A Look back at summer 2024
As we transition into the vibrant fall season here in New York City, we’re excited to share some of KARV’s endeavors and achievements over the summer.
We’re thrilled to announce the recognition of several outstanding KARV team members. Our Founder & President, Andrew Frank, was named a leading Litigation Support Specialist by Chambers and Partners for 2024 as well as our Executive Vice President, Eric Andrus. Eric was also honored as a leading Crisis and Risk Management Specialist by Chambers, and Senior Vice President, Kevin Nolan, was recognized by PRNews in its People of the Year Awards for his exceptional work in Public Affairs.
We are incredibly proud of the successes we’ve helped our clients achieve across the globe. Our efforts have led to significant accomplishments in reputation management, including navigating product recalls, and the implementation of effective strategic communications programs. Here are a few highlights from this summer:
Zedan Racing’s trainer of choice, Bob Baffert, is reinstated by Churchill Downs Inc.: KARV assembled and led a team of top tier litigation and communication experts to support Zedan Racing Stables in challenging an indefinite ban of one of horse racing’s most successful trainers, Bob Baffert, by Churchill Downs, Inc., the company behind the Kentucky Derby. Our client’s goal was achieved in July when Baffert was reinstated by Churchill Downs and is now allowed to have the horses he trains – including those owned by Zedan Racing -- run on its racetracks, and most importantly in the 2025 Kentucky Derby. We believe this development was spurred in part by the lawsuit brought by Zedan Racing and the subsequent media coverage and social media commentary that accompanied it. Read more here.
Our President, Andrew Frank, visited Serbia to engage with our client, Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, whom we are assisting with enhancing the nation of Serbia’s external relations with the United States and Europe.
We had the privilege of kicking off the summer with our inaugural KARV Summit, centered on "Navigating Global Strategy in the Age of Innovation." We were honored to host distinguished speakers including Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg, Northwell Health’s VP of Global Health, Dr. Eric Cioè Peña, and Managing Director of José Andrés Media, Richard Wolffe. Our event was further enlivened by the legendary Montauk Brewery, which provided an excellent selection of craft beers, along with Montaukila, Barrow’s Intense, Fort Worth.
Looking ahead, we will be welcoming clients and friends during the upcoming UNGA and some will attend the Clinton Global Initiative, Concordia, and Climate Week activities, among other events; Andrew Frank will be speaking at Law.com’s General Counsel Conference East. Additionally, we are eagerly anticipating an event we’ll be hosting in Germany this October, in collaboration with the American Council on Germany and others. This event will be a prelude to the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. If you’re in the Berlin area on October 14th, let us know, and we’ll ensure you’re on the guest list.
We hope your summer has been as exciting and productive as ours – with just enough fun and R&R. Here’s to a successful and fruitful fall season ahead—we look forward to seeing more of you in person in the coming months.
Thank you for your continued friendship and support, the KARV team.
